Hello all,
This is my latest Frankenstein monster to come out of the lab. I found an adhesive LED strip lighting kit for cars at Walmart, that had one of those try me buttons on it. This got me to thinking that it is already wire for a battery, so how could I use it?
I cut the bottom of from an old spray bottle to make a shallow cup, because the LED lights on the strip point to one side. I wrapped one strip to the outside, and the other on the inside, being sure to make certain that the led were pointing outward. I made a small hole to feed the wire through from the inside strip, then taped both wires together. I then removed the test button from the wires and connected them to the battery. It is almost finished now, and working very well so far (after its first field test in total darkness). The next step is to get a 9 volt battery plug that I can attach to the wires, and a small on/off switch, both are very easy to find at any electronics store, and very inexpensive.
The cord that runs to the battery is long enough that I can clip it to my shirt, or put it in my pocket!
UPDATE:
I used a breath mint can (name withheld till they offer me money), to add a battery box and power button, instead of having loose wires. This is what I came up with.
The box is big enough to hold a spare battery, and all the internal wiring. I put in some taped cotton balls to keep the terminals from making connection on the metal box, and reduce noise, and wire chafing. I also added a strong clip so I can mount it to my camera strap mount, or my shoulder strap.

Our first photographer for 2018 is the gentleman that makes me want to move to Portugal. His nature photography comprises many different species and multiple styles. He has also managed to capture some very dramatic moments while being in the field. His action shots have amazing clarity! It totally amazes me that this artist is relatively undiscovered! I am hoping that we can correct that oversight now, and spread the word of this amazing artist. So I present to you assincr0n0, the PlenaStellarum Photographer of the Month for January 2018! Please!
